Submission Guidelines
Ellipsis Press is interested in novels that are structurally innovative.
We like: novels that look normal but aren’t (more than those that look weird but are actually quite normal); those that are successful at bypassing or evolving the seemingly necessary but often tired elements of character and/or plot; and those that respond in some way to the history of the novel as genre and form.
Writers who have studied the traditional elements of the novel and experimented with them to emotionally moving and/or extraordinary ends are invited to submit for publication.
Send your whole manuscripts as a .rtf attachment by email only to editors [at] ellipsispress [dot] com.
We are not interested in poetry, short story collections, or non-fiction at this time. Due to time constraints we can respond only to those submissions we wish to pursue. These responses will be made within four five months time.

A few other notes: It’s best if your manuscript is one single file–not broken into several small files. Feel free to tell us a little bit about yourself and your submission in your cover email. We don’t need a plot summary, but just a short paragraph saying what you’re up to might be a nice handshake. Simultaneous submissions are a-okay–just please let us know as soon as you get accepted elsewhere. There’s no real minimum word-count, but less than 20K words probably means the writing needs to be unusually efficient. A word-count north of 40K seems to be preferred. A look here may give good indicators of the type of fiction we’re looking for.
